The True Essence of Being a Woman
A woman is considered to be the counterpart of man. She is the person accredited for the multiplication of the human species. She is the one who gets pregnant, gives birth, and takes care of the children of the family. She is the one who is responsible for taking care of man and making sure that all his needs are met. These needs do not only mean preparing the food for breakfast, or perhaps emotional support in times of trials and difficulties and other things that makes living much more convenient to man, it also includes the need of man for sex and romance. Yes, true to the fact that man is a biological, psychological, sociological and sexual being and sex is a form of physiologic need that is , of course, according to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In return, man is also obliged to take care of her counterpart and along with that is also the need for sexual pleasure. Man is woman’s woman's shield of protection and source of love and support. It is never intended for a man to hurt in any form a woman. The fact that man is by nature physically stronger than his counterpart, he must never take advantage of the situation because a woman is made by the Lord to be loved and respected, not to be inflicted with pain.
In the history of time, women were actually not given enough freedom and autonomy in the past. Only men were provided with the power to make decisions over issues at hand, work for the family as the bread winner, and run for any authoritative position in the society. Men were given much more importance than women. Even the right to vote was prohibited for women. The emphasis was mainly on the works, and contributions of man in the society. On the other hand, women were only allowed to stay at home and take care of the chores in the house. They exercise very few rights as citizens of the society for the fact that they were given only little importance to society’s economic development. Their rights were also very limited not unlike that of man’s. All they do was to clean the house, take of the children and met the needs of man after a long day at work. They were very unproductive as individuals and contributed less to the welfare of the society.
However, as the time goes by, the role of a woman somehow evolved from being passive sectors in the society into a more active, participative, and autonomous group of people. These were made possible because the scope of women’s function in the society dramatically changed. Contemporary women are now more involved with what is happening in today’s world. Today, they are more recognized, more vibrant, and more energetic. Say goodbye to the old tradition and say hello to the new role of women in the society. Their rights have increased and so are their privileges thereby making them as important beings in the world and not just man’s servant or support system. They are now allowed to vote for any individual aspiring to run for any government position. It is even better for today’s time because they are also welcomed to run as government officials. Aside from being able to participate in the elections, they can also run if they want to. Men are not any more the sole bread winners of the family. Women in today’s current situation also work and earn money for the family. In fact, one could even find a setup where the boss of the company that a man is working for is a woman. It only goes to show that women in this generation are not only self-fulfilled and autonomous; they are also very successful in their respective fields of specialty.
The dark ages of being a woman is now nothing but a distant past. With the way things are looking, this trend will only get even better as time passes by. Women are now seen by the society as equally capable to man. The discrimination of women, being a much inferior human being than of man, is now rejected. Women in today’s society are more independent and can live life even without the support of man beside her.
